Subject: Denzel Washington, and Brooks Army Medical Center Don't know whether you heard about this but Denzel Washington and his family visited the troops at Brook Army Medical Center , in San Antonio, Texas (BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers who have been evacuated fromGermany come to be hospitalized in the UnitedStates, especially burn victims There are somebuildings there called Fisher Houses. The FisherHouse is a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay,for little or no charge, while their soldier is stayingin the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houseson base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filledmost of the time.While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gavehim a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked howmuch one of them would cost to build. He took his checkbook out and wrote a check for the full amount right thereon the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hearthis story and want to get the word out to the Americanpublic, because it warmed their hearts to hear it
The question is - why do:Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton,Tom Cruise and other Hollywood fluff make front page news with their ridiculous antics and Denzel Washington's Patriotism doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section ofany newspaper except the Local newspaper in SanAntonio .

No Oxygen!

Last night was the first Good night in a week. Danny didn't require any oxygen to keep his stats up, YAHOO!!! Just wanted to let you all know. I can only hope he continues this. His right ear started draining again too, this is a good thing, so now all the bad stuff can drain out instead of clogging his ear.
This is my sisters last day here, so everyone is alil sad. They are going to leave some time this afternoon so they hit Atlanta, GA in the late evening. Traffic there SUCKS! I am going to take the kids to the pool this morning. Brenda and Ryan went to the beach for one last breath of ocean air and some peace and quiet. Heehee

Junky Monkey ~ 2nd post

Though this shirt was appropriate today! Here are a couple videos I took of my sick Junky Monkey. You can see and hear how wet and junky he is, sigh. The bath seemed to help out...so I am going to stay home instead of the ER. Looks like he has another bath if not 2 yet today. He doesn't mind them and he REALLY loves the massage of lotion and vics rub afterwards. So Danny and I will be doing bath treatments today, LOL. Whatever works, right?

Ups & Downs

Last night I managed to get out and have alil fun. My sister watched Danny for me, after dinner, and the kids, myself, and Ryan went miniature golfing. Danny was a very good boy for his Auntie and the rest of us had a blast. It was nice to step away from the caos around here if only for a hour. Then we came back home sat around and chit chatted....with a few cocktails, LOL. By the end of the night the adults were in a Happy place, not drunk, just feeling giddy. We got in this laughing spell doing a questionnaire on Facebook and my ribs are still hurting this morning. I haven't laughed like that in a long time.....THANKS!
Last night around 1am Danny wasn't holding his stats up at all....I cranked the O2 up to 5 and he still sat anywhere around 84-91 so it's not impressive AT ALL. This morning while awake his stats are 88-94 so not too bad, but not good either. He is back to being very junky and with VERY THICK mucus today. I'm debating on bring him into the ER again for just another Xray to see how things look. I want to be on the safe side! My sisters family took Avrianna to the beach today so it's just me and lil man. One last beach effort as they are leaving tomorrow morning heading back to the frozen tundra. I would like to say it is going to be peaceful here today but............
I am going to put him in a Vapor steam shower and then lather him up in vapor rub. Then we'll see how well he is doing before I make any ER decisions. Today marks the 3 day Danny has decided NOT to pee on his own, so I have had to cath him too. He is pulling out all the cards on this one, let me tell you! BRING IT ON lil man, BRING IT ON!!! LOL

Bad nite....Better morning

Last night was a long haul, but I'm glad we were at home and not in a hospital. Danny held his own till about midnight, on the bipap, when I needed to bleed in Oxygen. From midnight till about 3 I had to increase the amount of O2 to keep his stats above 90.....I stopped increasing O2 when we got to 4 lt. WOW ~ That's alot of O2! This morning he looks better and is breathing better, but still wheezy in his lungs. He is currently holding his own (awake) without a bipap or O2 and is around 93 for his stats. So not too bad. I took Danny into see the Doctor this morning and she was very impressed that we dodged the admission into the hospital yesterday. We are going to continue Mr Jiggles more and we are adding another inhaler (so he will be on Albuterol and Flovent). We have another appt next week to see the doctor and at that time she is going to irrigate BOTH his ears. They are still full of puss, yuck. She felt like leaving him alone today as he has been through alot in the last 24 hours. Thanks again for checking in on us! You're support means alot!

Tooth fairy

Smile....... :)Well the tooth fairy will be coming tonight to our place! One more tooth out...Avrianna FINALLY pulled this one out, herself. It was starting to drive me NUTS, as it was so loose it was crooked and moving in and out when she would talk...YUCK! So make way for the BIG teeth, she is growing up so fast.

Ok lets take a poll....Is Danny really that BIG or Is Auntie Brenda really that Little? Where does one end and the other begin? She is ALWAYS cold and here she is wrapped up in the Danny blanket, heeheeHooked up to Mr Jiggles....his new best friend for awhile...I shouldn't even take the vest off him, I've been using it SO MUCH. I just pray that his lungs stay ok. Right now he is sleeping with his Bipap on and he is at 90 so I'm going to start to bleed in some O2 to help him out. Hopefully that will lower his heart rate too.

ER visit, ARGH!

Last night Danny took a turn for the worse....go figure! So this morning I took him into see his pediatrician here....that visit took about 10 minutes and we were on the way to Children's Hospital ER, sigh. He is having a real hard time breathing with his secretions. Everyone that listened to him breath was hearing fluid in his lungs and wheezing in his chest. Plus BOTH ears have puss in them...great! So the antibiotics that has given him NASTY diarrhea seems to have not fought off the ear infection in the right ear, but allowed it to grow in the left ear too, YUCK. So off to ER for tests and xrays. They were able to get an IV in 6 attempts (they even brought out a vein finder...I've never seen one before). They did a bunch of blood tests, which all came out ok. And don't forget the Xray.....that to didn't look TOO bad, to EVERYONE'S surprise. But still he is having ALOT of troubles breathing. While we were waiting to be admitted the doctor came down and said the floor was FULL of kiddos with RSV, influenza, and pneumonia so there was going to be a wait to go upstairs and it would pretty much guarantee a longer stay (as they knew how Danny likes to catch bugs). So we've decided to take Danny home, have ER on stand by, and we are going to see the pediatrician again tomorrow am. So after 8 hours of dealing with Doctors today I have a headache and I am starving. I am going to crack a wine cooler, eat some pizza, and have a nice relaxing (I hope) time with my sister and her familyat home. I missed being able to send Dan off....so that was VERY disappointing and sad! Danny and I didn't get to say good bye, sigh! Never a dull moment around here I guess....we've just realized that $#!T HAPPENS!!!!!!! We'll MISS you DADDY, LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

Troubles Breathing!

Well the wonders of taking Danny out in public......he is sick! He is having troubles breathing.... obstructing, choking on his secretions, and just over all miserable. His ear is still draining and his right eye is draining too, yuck. He looks wiped out! I am doing alot more Mr Jiggles treatments and hoping that he starts to get better....soon. I know Dan is feeling terrible about leaving tomorrow afternoon, but my sister's family is still here for the rest of the week so I will have some help. Boy I hope he will be better by the end of the week. Avrianna is having blast playing with her cousins...so at least she is being occupied. I was wrong Danny's IEP is on Wednesday but he did have Physical therapy scheduled, but I cancelled it already. I will let you know how he is doing tomorrow. Oh the woooo's to taking Danny out of his environment!

Visiting

This week too, is a very busy one for us. My sister and her family are here visiting us so we have a FULL house. I think I have everything put away from our cruise...boy I wish I was still on it. They treated us like royalty and it wasn't TOO hard to get used to that life style. Everyone was so wonderful that worked on the ship. The only two issues that I would comment about is the elevators....ALL these able bodied people taking the elevators instead of doing the stairs which alot of times made us wait 2,3 and even 4 times for an available one. I was too the point where I was going to start kicking people off, LOL. They really should have some of the elevators strictly for people with a disability. The other one is the pool....I can't believe how small the pool was for a Disney cruise. At times the kids were jumping on top of each other cause it was so small, but they all had fun. I even got Danny in the pool once when we were at port, so everyone was off the ship. We had it all to our self.

She got her hair braided!Well off for some entertaining with my sister's family. It is pretty chilly here yesterday and then next 2 days so we are going to do some shopping, heehee. Dan is leaving back for Wisconsin tomorrow so it will be a very sad day here as we won't see him for 2 months, sigh. We also have Danny's IEP tomorrow....double YUCK! I will try and post again....it's a very busy place here!

Grand Caymen

Last night we had our formal dinner and let me say.....I had the best dressed family on this ship. I can't wait to post pictures! Danny was even in a suit and tie, heehee. I will try to post pictures, but they don't always work on this connection. Food is good, sun is better, and getting used to this live style is hard...NOT! The first night was not the best for me or Danny, but we are all having a great time. Today we went to Grand Caymen and looked around in some shops. Then came back to the ship...Avrianna and I went to the pool (I got burnt, sigh) and Dan and Danny took a nap. Tomorrow we port in Cozumel and that were Avrianna get to due her Dolphin excursion and she is so excited! Thanks for checking in on us....we're doing well!

Key West

In reading this mornings post I see I wasn't all with it (well as much as I thought I was) cuz some of it didn't make any sense. Well we stopped at Key West today and it was a nice time. We did some shopping and then back to the ship. Avrianna has been occupied most of the day either at the Club or Lab. This morning she made Flubber in the lab. Right now she is making a flower then off the deck 7 for games and fun, and then to Goofy's PJ party. They have it set up here at the ship that if you want to.... you drop the kids off and they can have a FULL fun filled day with the counselors. They page you if anything happens or if she wants to be picked up. I couldn't see sending her there all day, but we do drop her off here and there for some fun with the other kids. Well off to have a fruity drink with an umbrella in it....Take care! Will post later! I see some of the pictures won't download properly so I will try later.

Troubled Waters!!

Sorry I didn't update sooner...but it was very eventful on the ship for the first day. We got on the ship around 12:30 and went to eat some lunch at the buffet on the 9th floor while we waited for our rooms to be ready and the bags to be delivered. The food was very good and the excited for overwhelming. We got on board smoothly so that part when WONDERFUL! Once we got to our room Lil man decided to have the biggest and grossest blow out diaper I have EVER seen. So needless to say he had a new outfit on and we needed to get a new comforter for our bed (we haven't even left the port yet!). Once cleaned up we went for a walk to tour the ship and make a schedule for the evening plans. Around 4 we had a mandatory safety drill that went smoothly. To find out some how my camera's card got wiped out...not sure if there was a magnetic Field of some sort that we went through but we all the pictures we took are GONE, sigh! I was able to reformat the card and now all is good. So we went around to retake some of the pictures we could. Then we went up to Goofy's Pool stage to got to the send off party. It was a blast! Avrianna danced her heard out and Danny loved listening to the music and kids! Then the second blow out happen, agh! But I managed to save the outfit. Ok this is NOT GOOD! I have decided to discontinue the antibiotic to off the ship cuz this has to stop....I only brought one package of diapers (which should have be more then enough...now I'm not so sure). After that we went down to dinner at Lumiere's (it was done up like a scene in Beauty in the Beast). I managed to make it for about an hour and then I had to go to the bathroom (and FAST). So I didn't finish dinner or so anything else for the evening but have a date in the bathroom. Motion sickness ~ SUCKS! Danny stayed behind with me and watching TV and had 2 more blow outs, argh!! Dan and Avrianna went to the night show and ice cream. Dan was the hero last night...TOTALLY! This morning I feel ALOT better and i'm going to get ready for the day. I can only look forward to the rest of today and put yesterday behind us. Like I say NEVER a DULL moment with us. Well here are some pictures that we DO have.

YUCK

Poor lil man has gotten a full blown ear infection! Yellow goo is coming out of his right ear, right eye, and his face on the right side under his eye is puffy. YUCK!! I called up to Dr Kasper and he faxed over a script for an antibiotic. I was hoping the ear drops would clear it up, but no go. After 4 days of drops it is continuing to get worse. UGH! I can only hope that it clears up enough for the cruise and that C-Diff (a nasty bug he gets when on strong antibiotics) doesn't come to visit on the ship. That would be terrible for everyone. So needless to say Danny hasn't gone to the pool since we've been here, but he is still enjoying not being bundled up. He has been sleeping MOST of the 24 hour day then being up (like only up for 4-6 hours) for the last 3 days, so I am keeping a close eye on him. Never a dull moment, hey?
Well Avrianna and I are off to get some last minute things to pack for the trip. Take care!

Date Night

What a relaxing day....today after lunch I took the kids to my grandparents so Dan and I could run some errands. Avrianna went swimming with grandma and Danny hung out with grandpa watching ALL the judge shows and CNN (I'm not sure who took the longer nap, lol). Both kids were great! After our errands we decided, since the kids were doing well, to go see Grand Torino at the local theater, GREAT movie! I was trying to figure out the last time Dan and I went out together without children....it's been about a year. Then we treated ourselves to a dinner out (again ALONE) at a restaurant called Stir Crazy. It was so nice to have a conversation with him and not have MOM.....MOM......MOM! every 2 minutes. What a great relaxing day!

We Made it!

Hello faithful followers!! We made it and are just about all settled in. What a trip! The weather wasn't in our favor Friday night. About an hour before we were to depart it started to snow, sigh. Which wouldn't have been bad, but the ground was warm so the snow melted right away until it hit freezing temp....then it was a winter wonderland of ICE! The trip from my house to Chicago (which normally takes 3 hours) was 5 hours long and a slippery mess. I drove 45 mph and that was the fastest the RV would go without fish tailing. I was on guard!! I counted 9 accidents from my house to Milwaukee, yikes. I stopped driving around 3 am and then Dan took over, but not for long.......about 30 miles down there was a HUGE accident, just into Indiana, and they closed the freeway, yeap shut down the whole thing....so there we sat for 1.5 hours at 3 in the morning. I went to bed for some much needed shut eye and Dan got out to chit chatted with the semi drivers. So needless to say we are investing into a CB so we can be alarmed of this set back BEFORE we get stuck in it. The worst was we just passed a truck stop about 1 mile back so if we would have known early enough we could have stopped there and we all could have gotten a better night sleep instead of hanging out on the freeway. WOW talk about destruction in Kentucky....the whole state, on HWY 65, It was so sad to see, just about EVERY tree along the way was up rooted or broken in some way. From what I was told this isn't even the heart of the ice storm. WOW what a mess that needs to be cleaned up...well they won't run out of mulch or fire wood, heehee! So with the weather set back and the accident we were about 4 hours behind schedule already, ugh!! We still managed to get to the condo about 2:30 yesterday afternoon so we weren't too bad with time. The RV is cleaned out, washed, and already in storage. We just have to drop the sewer later today and then it will sit till we leave to go back to Wisconsin the end of April, but we won't talk about that yet, LOL. I have pretty much everything put away, Avrianna is doing her school work, and Dan & Danny are watching some TV (aka trying to stay out of my way, LOL). Here are some pictures of our travel...
